Collaborations with The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA): On-Site: New Architecture in Spain
Lecture: Panorama Emergente Iberoamericano

by architect and researcher Ariadna Cantis. Introduced by Venezuelan architect Carlos Brillembourg. Download bio of Ariadna Cantis here

Panorama Emergente Iberoamericano is an architecture research and exposure programme that emerged in 2000 within the sphere of the Ibero American Biennial. The idea arose from the existing void in the promotion of young architects in Latin America, Spain and Portugal and its first edition was presented in Santiago de Chile in October 2002 with the objective of attracting the interest of young individuals.

The lecture is part of the activities co-sponsored by The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center to accompany the On-Site: New Architecture in Spain exhibition exhibit in view at MoMA (February 12 – May 1, 2006).

In Spanish with simultaneous translation.

Book Presentation: Spain Beyond Spain:  Modernity, Literary History, National Identity (Lewisburg: Bucknell, 2005), edited by Luis Fernández-Cifuentes and Brad Epps.  With the editors and Jo Labanyi, James Fernández, Eduardo Subirats and Wadda Ríos-Font, contributors to the book.

Spain Beyond Spain: Modernity, Literary History, and National Identity is a collection of essays by sixteen specialists in modern Spanish literary and cultural studies from Spain, the United States, and Great Britain. The essays have a common point of origin: a major conference, entitled "España fuera de España: Los espacios de la historia literaria," held in the spring of 2001 at Harvard University. The essays also have a common focus: the fate of literary history in the wake of theory and its attendant programs of inquiry, most notably cultural studies, postcolonial studies, new historicism, women's studies, and transatlantic studies.

The events take place in the first-floor auditorium of NYU’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center.
